Welcome Friends and Family!

Thank you for taking the time to visit my Fundraising page. My name is Richard Tovar and on October 13th I will be racing my SECOND ever marathon! And what better place to race then the city I grew up in. Chicago has always been home and rescuing animals has always been something near and dear to me.

On September 5th 2015, Glen and I rescued a tiny 3 y/o terrier mix in Los Angeles, California. Although this dog was not at a high kill shelter, the frail dog had lost all hope. While all the other dogs begged for attention, he laid in the corner watching people walk by. Devasted by being abandon by his owner, he lost patches of hair and would hardly eat and was growing ever so thin.

We took to him and decided to adopt the little fella and from then on he was our Jojo. Although it took Jojo time to trust his new family, he quickly took to his new older brother and sister, Hunter and Ella, and to the loving Pops. He not only became an addition to the family but became our little baby. And now, we couldn't possibly imagine life without him.

This year, Jojo will be turning 8 years old and is loving life. He enjoys the attention of strangers and jumping up in bed for a quick cuddle before quickly jumping off to investigate a random noise he heard outside. He particularly likes to irritate the hell out of his grumpy older siblings. What can you say? He's still a pup that wants to play.

I can't imagine my life without this little one. Would you consider donating so that the animals in the Chicago area are in a safe environment before they're in their forever homes?

PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities – starting with a No Kill Chicago – where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized per year in Chicago has dropped more than 80 percent. In 2016, PAWS Chicago found loving homes for more than 5,100 homeless pets. But there is more work to be done and your generosity is crucial to this effort.

Please consider supporting me by making a donation and helping PAWS Chicago provide vital medical care, food and shelter to thousands of homeless pets this year. PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago's homeless animals.

Your support will allow us to build a truly humane and compassionate community, one pet at a time. Please consider donating to my cause.

If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing my page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity.

Thank you for your support!
