David Woolf Chicago Marathon 2019 Fundraising

Friends and Family,

Thank you all for taking the time to visit my fundraising page for the 2019 Chicago Marathon benefiting PAWS Chicago. Last year I started setting goals for myself and one of those goals was a marathon. It was early on in that preparation process that I discovered you could channel your race into awareness and raise money for many worthy causes. As most of you know, my family lost Holly, our Jack Russel Terrier of nearly 16 years, last year. That was a tough day for all of us because she was the only family dog we had ever had and was with our family for all of my formative years. Knowing my parents, however, I knew they wouldn't last long without a new pup. This time though, they knew they wanted to rescue and save a dog's life who desperately needed it. So they went to PAWS and it wasn't long before they found Rosie, a mut of the best order who is as playful as she is loving. But Rosie did not have the start you would hope for with a dog. She was found at two weeks old in a box, abandoned with her brother and without her mother. Luckily she was taken to a PAWS shelter and found us. I didn't learn the horrible details of this for some time and when I did, it made me thankful for PAWS. This is only one story of how PAWS helps save the lives of animals across the city of Chicago and nationwide (a more detailed description is below).

PAWS provides a safe haven for dogs (and cats) like Rosie who would otherwise have no place to go. Importantly, the mission of PAWS requires our continual support. That is why I am running the Chicago Marathon in support of Team PAWS Chicago. To that end, I ask you to please consider giving to my campaign. Your support will allow us to build a more humane and compassionate community, one pet at a time. Thanks!

If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing my page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity.

About PAWS:

PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities – starting with a No Kill Chicago – where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized per year in Chicago has dropped more than 80 percent. In 2016, PAWS Chicago found loving homes for more than 5,100 homeless pets. But there is more work to be done and your generosity is crucial to this effort.

PAWS Chicago provides vital medical care, food and shelter to thousands of homeless pets each year. PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago's homeless animals.

Thank you for your support!
