Stacy Kemp

After finishing the last couple long runs, it looks like I might be able to do it!

On October 8th I will be "running" the Chicago Marathon to raise money for PAWS Chicago. As you know, I am a dog lover and have had 3 of the best friends any girl could ask through my life. Gypsy, Jackson and Lola are all rescue dogs. Jackson and Lola were both rescued from kill shelters. I cannot imagine my life without these 3 angels. The money we raise will help other people find their best friends and save the lives of thousands of animals - including emergency help for animal victims of Harvey and Irma.

October 8th holds additional meaning for me as it is my Dad's birthday. He would be 71 this year and while a marathon is likely the LAST thing he would have ever endeavored, I am also running to remember him. I know he will be cheering me on but also wondering why in the world I would do this!

Here is a little about PAWS -

PAWS Chicago is dedicated to building No Kill communities – starting with a No Kill Chicago – where all healthy and treatable pets are saved. Since PAWS Chicago’s founding in 1997, the number of homeless animals euthanized per year in Chicago has dropped more than 80 percent. In 2016, PAWS Chicago found loving homes for more than 5,100 homeless pets. But there is more work to be done and your generosity is crucial to this effort.

Please consider supporting me by making a donation and helping PAWS Chicago provide vital medical care, food and shelter to thousands of homeless pets this year. PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago's homeless animals.

Your support will allow us to build a truly humane and compassionate community, one pet at a time. Please consider donating to my cause.

If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing my page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity.

Thank you for your support!

The love shared between humans and the beloved heartbeats at our feet is truly among the greatest on the planet. Thank you for running to improve and save the lives of so many innocent, desperate and deserving animals, Stac. You are - and always have been - a woman of immense substance and this is another in a long line of causes you've stepped up to champion. Your Dad would be so proud of your ongoing commitment to challenge yourself beyond what is comfortable (26 miles, really???) and to set a wonderful example simply by being you. Love you and am so proud of you.
