Thank you for visiting my PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/Run For Their Lives fundraising page!

On Saturday, September 10th, I will be walking with my PAWS alumni dogs Cooper and Sasha in the PAWS Chicago's 21st annual Run For Their Lives event. This is my 7th year participating in this event and I couldn’t be more excited. I am committed to the mission of PAWS Chicago to build a No-Kill community - a place where pets are no longer destroyed because they are homeless. PAWS Chicago strives each year to increase the number of pets that are spayed, neutered, and rescued in efforts to drastically change the euthanasia rate that they currently face.

I hope you will consider supporting this effort by donating today.

As you know, my dogs Merlin (adopted from Foster Pet Outreach in December 2021), Cooper (PAWS name Superfly - adopted 2011), and Sasha (PAWS name Sandra - fostered and adopted 2021) are a huge part of my life. I'm so thankful for PAWS for making it possible for these wonderful fur-babies to be with me. I was so impressed with what an incredible job PAWS does that I started volunteering there in January 2013. Now I'm there volunteering every Saturday morning helping walk and feed dogs before the shelter opens for the day. When I leave after my shift the rewarding feeling I have is indescribable – and most of the time I leave without a new dog to add to my crew… ;)

To help PAWS with its mission, I decided to fundraise along with participating in the 5K with my PAWS alumni crew. My goal for this year is $4,000. It's going to be a hard goal to achieve but it will be more than worthwhile!!

Please consider supporting me and help enable PAWS Chicago to provide vital medical care, food, and shelter to the thousands of homeless pets rescued each year. PAWS Chicago receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care and a second chance at life for homeless animals for years to come. All donations are tax deductible and are guaranteed to make you feel warm and fuzzy inside!

Thank you for any assistance you can provide. Your support is truly appreciated!!

Thank you,

Erica, Cooper, Sasha, and Merlin

Thank you for your support!

This year's walk is in memory of:

King Louie (fostered and adopted from PAWS in 2016 and passed away in September 2021). King Louie was my "little man" and I brought him everywhere I could get away with (which was easy because he fit in most of my purses!). He stole my heart the first time I met him while volunteering at the medical center and I still tear up when I think about him and how much I miss him.

Maizie (adopted in April 2005 and passed away in May 2022) - She was our first dog, and as I would often say, "our gate-way dog." My sister found her as a stray in Missouri in 2005 and she was the definition of a hot mess when she arrived. We made all of our first time dog owner mistakes on her and she begrudgingly played mom to all of the dogs we brought in over the years. She also put up with water treadmill therapy and acupuncture, as she got older and needed help with her mobility and she made it to the amazing age of 17 years and 7 months! We miss you Maizie-Moo!
