Welcome to Chicago's LARGEST dog-friendly charity eventthe 22nd Annual PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/ Run!  Now in its 22nd year, the PAWS 5K raises funds to support the life-saving work of PAWS Chicago, the Midwest's largest No Kill animal shelter. This event welcomes human and dog participants from Chicagoland who come together and take steps to save the lives of homeless pets.

All event participants will receive our event shirt!  For an additional fee now through Friday, August 12, we will mail your shirt prior to the event, or you can opt to pick up your shirt at our Early Pick-Up on Thursday, September 8, 5-7pm at our PAWS Chicago Blazer Building, 1933 N Marcey Street OR at the event.  And YES you may pick up shirts on behalf of others! 

Please note that shirts must be picked up before or at the event.  There will be no pickup/mailing of
 any remaining shirts after the event.   

 
EVENT SCHEDULE
7:30  Event begins and the 5K Walk/Run Route Opens In order to keep our guests safely spread out and prevent the crowding that occurs when lining up, we will not have one official start time.  Instead, our course will open from 7:30am-10:30am for walkers/runners to complete at their leisure! 
 
Be sure to stop by the following areas:
A.  Registration / Shirt Pick-Up -- this is where you can drop off donations, pick up your event shirt and wristband
B.  Merchandise / Raffle -- we will have prior year PAWS 5K shirts available ($5 each) as well as our 50/50 raffle
C.  Agility Course -- take your pups through the Tucker Pups Pet Resort pet agility course 
D.  PUPP-arazzi Stations -- get a photo with your team and pets at either of our stations
E.  Doggy Oasis -- does your pup need a break or to cool down?  Have them relax in the shade or jump in one of our pools at the oasis
F.  Sponsor Tents -- our sponsors will have games and giveaways at their tents so be sure to stop by them all


7:45  PAWS Alumni Photo (main stage) For those who have adopted or fostered for PAWS Chicago, join us for our annual Alumni Photo!  Even if your dog/cat isn't at the PAWS 5K, you may still join the photo at the main stage.  Be sure to bring those red bandanas!

Emmy-winning Jake Hamilton is the Entertainment Anchor for FOX 32 Chicago. When Jake isn’t traveling the world interviewing the planet’s biggest stars, he can be found cozying up with his PAWS Chicago dog and best pal, Daenerys. He is also the co-host of the “ReelBlend” podcast. Jake is a longtime supporter and is celebrating his fifth time emceeing our PAWS 5K! 
 
Brady, On-Air Afternoons on 103.5 KISS FM 
Catch Brady weekdays from 3-7pm on 103.5 KISS FM! An avid runner and pet lover, Brady served as PAWS Chicago’s TEAM PAWS Ambassador where he ran two marathons in support of homeless animals!  Brady is also the proud adopter of two PAWS Chicago cats, brother and sister combo Penny and Jude. Follow Brady’s Instagram for his weekly “Wednesday Rescue” posts where he features older pets that are up for adoption at PAWS.

WALK/RUN ROUTE
When our 2022 route is finalized, we will share that here. We will have a main human and pet water station at Mile 1 and pet water stations at Miles 2 and 3.  In order to keep participants at a safe distance, we will not have one official start time. Instead, our course will open from 7:30am-10:30am for walkers/runners to complete at their leisure!  Please note that for safety reasons, dogs are not allowed for those running, only those walking.

PARKING
There is plenty of free street parking along Simmonds.  Please be aware that lots and some portions of Montrose ARE paid/metered so please pay attention to sign postings.
 
FIRST AID
For the safety of our guests, we will have Medics on site for our human guests and if needed, our Veterinary Emergency Group Pet Medical Tent will be available.
