Thank you for visiting our Team Page for the 20th Annual PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/Run For Their Lives!
On Sunday, May 31, 2020, family and friends will once again gather at the PAWS Chicago 5K to honor Chris Klokkenga and his amazing love of animals. For the fourth year, our team - Get-A-Life - will raise funds to continue Chris's legacy. Last year, our team went onstage again, taking 3rd place! This annual fundraiser could not continue without your continued love and support. We are deeply appreciative of every single one of you.
As a volunteer at PAWS, Chris rescued 2 cats, Ace and Kirby. He also rescued Bailey, his black lab. Animals were a big part of his heart. Please consider donating to our team and of course coming to Montrose Harbor on May 31, 2020 to walk/run with us. Below are additional details about PAWS.
Every year in Chicago, nearly 9,000 cats and dogs are euthanized because they simply don’t have a place to call home. As people who love animals, we cannot let this continue. That’s why we’ve decided to participate in and fundraiser for PAWS Chicago’s 5K Walk/Run For Their Lives on Sunday, May 31, 2020.
PAWS Chicago (Pets Are Worth Saving) is a national model in No Kill animal shelter, committed to bringing an end to the killing of homeless cats and dogs. As Chicagoland’s largest No Kill shelter, and one of the largest in the nation, PAWS has helped to reduce the number of homeless pets killed in the city by 91% since its founding in 1997. In just 20 years, PAWS Chicago has grown from a grassroots organization to a national leader in the No Kill movement, guiding other communities in how to dramatically reduce the euthanasia of homeless cats and dogs.
In 2018, PAWS Chicago found homes for 5,591 dogs and cats through its Lincoln Park and Highland Park Adoption Centers.
Charity Navigator, the nation’s largest independent evaluator, has rated PAWS Chicago at its highest 4-star ranking for 17 consecutive years—an accomplishment that less than 1% of the charities in the nation have reached.
PAWS receives no government funding and relies solely on people like you to help provide continued care for Chicago's homeless animals.
Please donate to our cause today – Chicago’s homeless pets are depending on you! If you are feeling extra generous, please consider sharing this page with your network or check with your employer if they will match your donation to make the most out of your generosity.
Thank you for your support!
