PAWS Chicago’s 5K Walk/Run

Welcome to the 17th Annual PAWS Chicago 5K Walk/ Run - Chicago's LARGEST dog-friendly event, benefiting PAWS Chicago, for animal lovers and their canine companions. Hosted by PAWS Chicago’s Professional Board, the event welcomes more than 3,000 participants who come together and take steps to save the lives of homeless pets. 

In addition to the main event, participants will enjoy live entertainment, food & drinks, free giveaways and more! And new this year, we’re excited to announce that Patti Murin and Colin Donnell, stars of NBC’s “Chicago Med” will serve as honorary “Leaders of the Pack” and will lead the start of the 5K run!

This annual celebration is critical in raising the funds necessary to ensure PAWS Chicago can continue to save and care for thousands of homeless pets each year!

We are delighted to welcome back FOX 32’s Jake Hamilton & Jenny Milkowski as our 2017 PAWS 5K Emcees!
 
Jake Hamilton is the features/entertainment reporter for FOX 32’s Good Day Chicago.  Jake is the proud papa of PAWS Chicago Alum, Daenerys.
 
Jenny Milkowski is the traffic reporter for FOX 32’s Good Day Chicago.  She is the proud mama to two PAWS Chicago cats: Atari and Wanda.

PAWS Chicago’s 5K Walk/Run welcomes athletes and animal’s lovers of all ages and experience levels. You can register as an individual, join a team or start your own team! The registration price includes your race entry, live entertainment, snacks, giveaways and much more! Walk or run for their lives and register today!
 
Pricing
All participants receive an event t-shirt!
  • Child Registration (Under 12)*: $20 (Online registration closes on May 31)
  • Adult Event Day Registration*: $60 (Day of Event: June 4)
  • Automatic Hero Registration*: $200 Register as an Automatic Hero to receive access to the VIP Hero Hangout on event day,           participant Treat Bag, and event t-shirt. 

*Event t-shirts are not guaranteed for race day registrations.

Hero Hangout 
When you raise a minimum of $200 by event day, you will receive access to the VIP Hero Hangout where you will enjoy: 
  • An event t-shirt & participant Treat Bag

  • Adult refreshments (21+)
  • Interactive puppy play pen (with adoptable PAWS dogs)

*Top Individual Fundraiser and Top Fundraising Team will be determined based on all donations received by 8pm on Friday, June 2, 2017

Please Note:
  • The event will take place rain or shine
  • Dogs can only partake in the walk portion of the event
  • Strollers and/or wagons ARE permitted, but please note that the event site is on grass and the walk route is on gravel.
  • Event map and run/walk route map will be provided once available

Packet Pickup
Event registration packets can be picked up at Fleet Feet in Old Town (1620 North Wells Street) on June 1 & 2 (Thursday/Friday) from 5- 8 p.m.  We will have the packets organized by teams (for those who are on a team) and by solo walkers/runners.  Only one representative from the team needs to be present to pickup.  You may also turn in any check or cash donations at this time.

For those unable to pickup their packets on June 1 or 2, you may do so on event day at the Registration Tent.

Parking
Free parking is available at Montrose Harbor.  Please pay attention to any signs noting any no park zones (e.g. on bridges).  Because Montrose is still open to the public on that day, participants are encouraged to arrive early and to carpool.  Divvy, walk or bike (if possible) to allow adequate parking for participants traveling with pets.

For those wishing to pay and reserve their own spot, we have a partnership with ParkWhiz where they will donate $1 to the PAWS Chicago 5K for each person who books through this LINK


Fundraising & Perks
Proceeds raised from the 5K Walk/Run will go directly to helping PAWS Chicago build a No Kill community - a place where pets are no longer destroyed because they are homeless. Every dollar makes a difference and we need your help to save more lives.
